Experience
island living the easy way by renting the only property on Torsa
Island. Perfect for child friendly family holidays, giving you time
to unwind and relax together, while exploring the bays, islands
and hills around. Use of a motor boat is included in the rental price, allowing
guests to explore the neighbouring bays and islands and gain easy
access to and from the island. Tuition and lifejackets are included.
An electric buggy is also provided for transporting luggage to the holiday cottage.
Torsa
House offers unique self catering accommodation for a truly unforgetable
holiday. Properties of this type are few and far between, and our cottage
has the added benefit of mains electricity not often available in
holiday property of this kind. Sleeping up to six, it provides an
ideal family retreat and the perfect excuse to spend time together
as a family enjoying the great outdoors! With a large, well equipped
kitchen, conservatory with sea views, three bedrooms and lounge
with open fire. The large enclosed garden is child friendly and dogs
are welcome also.
Located
16 miles south of the bustling harbour town of Oban on the west
coast of Scotland, Torsa is within easy reach of shops, tourist
attractions and only three hours drive from Glasgow. Your stay starts
with a lesson in using the motor boat and electric buggy provided
for your use, and help to settle you into your holiday accommodation.
Sited above the well known safe anchorage of Ardnamir Bay, it is
also the perfect shore base for a sailing or motor boat holiday.
The moorings can be used for guests own boats and there are ample
local sites to launch canoes or kayaks from.
The
peace and quiet makes wildlife watching all the easier, with resident
otters, seals, birds of prey and a wide array of wild flowers to
see. Located on the edge of the Firth of Lorn Marine Special Area
of Conservation, there are also whale and wildlife watching boat
trips locally. Dolphins and porpoise are sometimes seen from the
shore, and golden and sea eagles are occasional visitors from the
neighbouring islands. So whether you are already a committed bird
watcher or flower spotter, or just enjoy natural beauty, you will
find something to impress you.
With
its own moorings and the sheltered anchorage available within Ardnamir
Bay, Torsa is the perfect base for a sailing or motor boating holiday
using your own boat. Launching facilities are available nearby,
and with well established marinas and chandlers in the area you
are well provided for in every way. There are plenty of opportunities
for exploring the area with Loch Melfort, the islands of the Firth
of Lorn, Shuna Island and hidden anchorages like Puilladobhran (Pool
of the Otters) waiting to be discovered.
